Small-sized household power plant

Amendment of Act LXXXVI of 2007 on Electricity entered into force on 1 January 2008 which introduced the concept of a small-sized household power plant and simplified their construction and licensing procedure. It is a small-sized power plant connected to a household-sized network, the connection capacity of which does not exceed 50 kVA. No building permit is required for the installation of small household-sized power plants up to 50 kVA. A small-sized household power plant can be established not only by a residential customer, but also by a municipality and a business, considering the voltage level of the connection point and the power limit.

Technical information

Electricity produced by the operator of a small-sized household power plant shall be taken over by the electricity trader or universal service provider selling at the given connection point at the request of the operator. Small-sized power plants up to 5 kVA can be connected in single-phase, above 5 kVA only three-phase inverter can be connected to the network. An inverter is an electrical device that converts direct current produced by a solar panel into alternating current. This alternating current can be regenerated into the grid. A grid-controlled inverter is required, which can only operate in parallel with the grid, therefore it automatically disconnects from the grid in the event of a grid failure.

Process of our service provision

After receiving the quote, the very first step is a telephone consultation. In this case, the exact needs are expressed by both the customer and the contractor, and then the details are discussed.
To compile a quote, the followings are required:

Each page of the annual settlement bill or monthly electricity bill scanned or photographed (this is required to assess the level of use, calculate the performance of the system to be installed, and for licensing).

Exact address and topographical number (these are required for a preliminary inspection of the orientation of the roof surface (s)).

Photo of the electricity meter and the circuit breakers below in such a way that the values of the circuit breakers can be read (this shows that there are 1 or 3 phases in the given building).
Photo of the roof surface on which the solar panel will be placed (this will reveal the raw material used for the roofing, as well as we can measure the dimensions of the roof surface).

Once the necessary data are available, a preliminary quote will be made (this will be emailed to the customer), followed by an on-site survey. We assess the structure, condition, and dimensions of the roof more accurately; check that the pre-recommended panel number fits securely; and finally, we discuss where the inverter may be placed.

Following the discussion, if both parties are satisfied with the terms, a power of attorney will be conducted. This is necessary to act toward the electricity supplier regarding the solar panel system.

Once the documents have been approved, the contracts will be completed, after which we will organize the implementation (our current team can complete a smaller system of 18-20 panels in one day).

After installing the system, to complete the process, the necessary documents shall be sent to the electricity company, then the service provider will contact the customer for meter replacement and programming (replacement for old meter, only reprogramming for new meter so that the unit can measure energy regenerated into the grid).
